Bears sign Kendall Wright
The Chicago Bears signed Kendall Wright, formally of the Tennessee Titans. The one-year deal is worth up to $4 million.
The Bears are trying their best to retool their receivers for new quarterback Mike Glennon. Losing Alshon Jefferey was a significant hit to their receivers and the signing of free agents Kendall Wright and Markus Wheaton, who signed on Friday, are attempts to fill that void.
Kendall Wright does have some upside and has had flashes of being a quality receiver. In 2013, he caught 94 passes and ended up with 1079 yards and only 2 touchdowns.
Heading into the 2017, there is no clear cut #1 receiver for the Bears and it will be a toss up as to who might emerge as their go-to player. Odds are that Kevin White or Cameron Meredith may be the #1, but we won't know for sure until they open camp in the summer.
This is a no-brainer for the Bears to sign Kendall Wright, but it remains to be seen as to how significant of an impact he will have in the passing game.
