Tony Romo Broken Bone has Major Fantasy Implications
Initial diagnosis of Tony Romo's back concluded that he was just fine and the Dallas Cowboys had nothing to worry about. Well, after further examination it turns out that he has a broken bone in his back.
The Cowboys medical team expects Romo to be out until at least mid-season, or around 6 to 10 weeks. However, this prognosis is still very early and things could change.
This injury will have a massive impact on fantasy drafts moving forward.
The value of Dez Bryant and Jason Witten will certainly take a hit. He currently has an ADP of 12, but I would expect this number to fall to towards the end of the 2nd round. Guys like A.J. Green and perhaps Allen Robinson or Brandon Marshall should be taken sooner than Bryant due to this injury.
The value of Ezekiel Elliot goes up due to this injury and he now looks like a less risky pick due to this injury to Romo. You would think that the Cowboys will have to rely on the run game a bit more until Romo gets back.
Romo currently has an ADP of 104, but this will certainly drop significantly since he will be missing half or more of all fantasy football leagues. I do not see a point to even drafting Romo as it stands now.
Fantasy players should be looking at taking Dak Prescott as their backup in hopes that he is a good play against a weak defense or a bye-week replacement. It would be unwise to consider Dak a reliable #1 fantasy quarterback at this point until we see more from him.
