Eric Decker Deep Threat
The New York Jets are hoping to expand wide receiver Eric Decker's playbook to a deep threat playmaker this season.
Decker has shown his ability to win match ups and run clean routes, but his downfield presence has never been strong. In 2015, only 16 out of 80 catches went over 20 yards. The Jets feel confident that Decker will surprise everyone and be a real threat downfield.
When Decker was with the Broncos in 2013 he had his best year, with 1,288 yards and 87 receptions. There was speculation that Decker would fizzle out without Peyton Manning throwing to him. Those rumors were put to rest in 2015 when he managed 80 receptions, and 1,027 yards.
The Jets have a good combination with Decker and Brandon Marshall on the field. Both players can get the job done with Ryan Fitzpatrick at the helm.
Brandon Marshall still has the edge over Decker when it comes time for your draft, with an ADP of 19 versus 48. But if the Decker deep threat works on the field, whoever drafts him in a late round will be very happy.
