Where Do Wide Receivers Rank

Lesley Tedeschi Aug 25th 12:53 PM EDT.

Now that fantasy football drafts are in full swing, let's take a look at where the point producing wide receivers rank.

Each league has their own value level for position players. Running backs have always been dominant and usually are the top first picks. Wide receivers can rack up a lot of points, especially if you have a quarterback and receiver combination. Drafting such a duo comes down to chance most of the time.

PPR leagues give wide receivers more value. The rankings here are based on PPR leagues.

In the first round the stand out receivers so far seem to be Antonio Brown, Odell Beckham Jr., Julio Jones, A.J. Green, Dez Bryant, and DeAndre Hopkins. Antonio Brown will be a solid choice and whoever is lucky enough to grab him will reap the benefits all season. DeAndre Hopkins had his biggest year in 2015 and should surpass the 111 receptions he had last year.

The next set of receivers are still at the top, but need to show consistency if they want to move into the top tier. Brandin Cooks, Jordy Nelson, Allen Robinson, T.Y.Hilton, Mike Evans, and Brandon Marshall are all solid players to have on your team. Last year Hilton let a lot of fantasy teams down, but hopefully with a healthy Andrew Luck he will climb back to the top. Brandon Marshall has his good days and his bad, but he always seems to get to the ball and produce when you need him.

Demaryius Thomas dropped in the standings after a not so stellar 2015, and this year with the Broncos new quarterback we will see if he can get back the magic he once had. He is definitely worth having on your team, but no longer a number one pick. Alshon Jeffery is another receiver that has fallen off over the past year, but has the potential to be great again. If Jeffery stays healthy the entire season his numbers will be right back to the 2013 and 2014 seasons he had. Both Jeffery and Thomas are good picks, and if the elite receivers are gone these guys are good to have.

So far these are the players deemed the most valuable. There are still a few weeks before the season starts so we will see who makes the list closer to opening day.
