Joe Flacco will play in first preseason game of 2016
Ravens fans should be excited to see how Joe Flacco fares this Friday against the Detroit Lions.
The last time Ravens fans saw Flacco play in a game was against the St. Louis Rams in Week 11 where he tore his ACL and MCL in his left knee. After that, Ravens fans know all too well how the rest of the season unfolded.
Flacco is still not 100% as far as his surgically repaired left is concerned but he has been a full participant in training camp thus far. The goal all along was to get him up to speed in reps and make sure he was game-ready before pre-season game.
Flacco made an appearance on Mad Dog Sports Radio announcing he will play this Saturday.
"You need to get back out there, [and] you need to get your mind used to getting ready for a game," Flacco said. "And then, yeah, I need to get over that last hurdle, which is going out there and being a live target for guys to hit and see how I react to it."
The Ravens did not comment as to how long he will play, but the fact that he will be out there is a great sign for the team. Keep in mind this is only his second season with new offensive coordinator Marc Trestman, so the reps are certainly needed at this point.
