Broncos Quarterback Play Not Great Against 49ers
The Denver Broncos came into Saturday's game against the San Francisco 49ers with one goal in mind: quarterback play.
Mark Sanchez, a quarterback known by some for his infamous butt-fumble, had two fumbles on the night. He also showed promise by guiding the Broncos down the field on two 70 yard drives. Mark ended the night 10/17 for 120 yards with a quarterback rating of 80.5.
“I know I can play this game. I know I’m better than I showed tonight,” Sanchez said. “Two plays. Two really bad plays that took away from a great performance and from potentially winning the job.”
Paxton Lynch was the only quarterback of the night to score a touchdown and went 15/26 for 113 yards with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception.
Meanwhile Trevor Siemian's highlight reel was mainly limited to one interception to 49ers safety Eric Reid, which was returned 42 yards for a touchdown.
After the game Siemian referenced the interception.
“There’s a lot to think about,” Siemian said. “I have to be able to bounce back. … There are some positives to take away, but can’t I turn the ball over.”
Another troubling sign from the night is that the Denver quarterbacks were sacked for a total of 6 times for -26 yards.
The quarterback race still remains tight heading into their next preseason game against the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday August 27th.
