Quarterback in San Francisco Still Unkown
As the season approaches the San Fransisco 49ers have yet to name a starting quarterback. Blaine Gabbert and Colin Kaepernick are still battling things out on the field.
Kaepernick is dealing with a right shoulder fatigue issue that has kept him out of two practices and the preseason opener. Karpernick had three surgeries last year and hasn't played in a game since November. He is eager to take the field this week in Denver and show everyone he is healthy and ready to play. Chip Kelly wanted to keep Kaepernick out of the game last week to give him more time to heal. Making a comparison between Gabbert and Kaepernick when one isn't 100% doesn't seem fair in Kelly's mind.
Blaine Gabbert would appear to have the edge on the starting job, but no one is admitting that. Gabbert had a solid practice on Friday against the Texans, but was up and down in the preseason game.
The job is wide open and waiting for one of these two players to rise to the occasion. Both will have a chance against Denver to showcase their skills against one of the top defenses in the league.
