Jock MKT March NBA Market Picks

Please Note: Prices are subject to change throughout the day.

Dennis Smith, Charlotte Hornets $1.44

With LaMelo ball sidelined, Terry Rozier and Smith are the obvious candidates to see increased minutes and production. Rozier is a much more prolific player, nevertheless, he is also significantly more expensive. If you are looking for a cheaper option with upside, go with Smith here. Despite being unusable when Ball is active, Smith has seen a nice spike when he’s not playing. He has played 23 games with Melo and 18 without him. Without Ball, Smith plays 4.6 more minutes per game. He also averages 1.8 more points per game to go along with 0.7 more rebounds, and 2.5 more assists per game, which is a significant jump. With Ball out, his averages are 9.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per game. His upside is also much higher on any given night.

Dorian Finney-Smith, Brooklyn Nets $1.12

Finney-Smith hasn’t quite found his footing in Brooklyn quite yet since coming over in a trade from Dallas for Kyrie Irving. However, it seems to be just a matter of time. With his price this low, he is worth taking a flier on. In seven games for the Nets, he has played more than 30 minutes three times and is averaging more than 29 minutes per game. His rebounding numbers have been up since joining Brooklyn, however, he has only cracked double-digits in points once since making the jump. He had scored double-digit points in six of his previous eight games before heading to Brooklyn. The opportunity has been there, his shooting has just been terrible. We expect him to break out of his slump sooner rather than later, especially with a rivalry game against the New York Knicks tonight.

James Wiseman, Detroit Pistons $1.21

Wiseman was also moved before the trade deadline, however, he has seen all of his numbers climb since being dealt from the Warriors to the Pistons. The most obvious benefit to him has been a drastic increase in opportunity. Since joining the Pistons, he has topped 20 minutes in all four games. He hadn’t played 20 minutes in more than two straight games all season and was averaging just 12.5 minutes per game with the Warriors. With the Pistons he’s been averaging 23.5 minutes and 10 shots per game. With Golden State, he was averaging 6.9 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. Now in Detroit, he’s averaging 13.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. His price tag is still low so take advantage of it while you still can. He should outperform his current market value and with the Pistons out of the playoff race, they may be willing to give Wiseman some extra minutes this month to find out what he's truly capable of.

Malik Beasley, Los Angeles Lakers $1.33

With LeBron James likely sidelined for a few weeks, Beasley is expected to see an increased role for the Lakers. He is also a recent acquisition and is now looking to be almost fully integrated into the system. He’s played at least 32 minutes in each of the past two games and we don’t expect those numbers to drop as the Lakers struggle with injuries to James and D’Angelo Russell. In just six games, he has already scored double-digit points three times and topped 20 points twice. That was while playing limited minutes. We expect him to hover around his averages of 13.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists while his role is expanded. There is also an obvious upside here as he has shown he is more than capable of pushing upwards of 25 or even 30 points on any given night. That being said, it's important to keep an eye on the injuries to King James and Russell. You will likely want to sell your shares of Beasley a game or two before LeBron makes his triumphant return.

Josh Hart, New York Knicks $1.41

Despite seeing his minutes drop, Hart has seen his scoring jump since being traded to the Knicks at the deadline. He is playing just 26.3 minutes in New York which is 7.1 minutes less than when he was playing in Portland, nonetheless, his scoring output has risen from 9.5 to 13.8 points per game. In seven games, he has scored in double-digits in six of them including a 27-point night against Brooklyn. Hart gets another date with the Nets tonight so don't be surprised if he goes off yet again. The Knicks' coaching staff has already proven that they love thiew new acquisition by giving him crunch-time minutes. Hart's rebounds have dipped a bit, but we expect those to go up along with his minutes. Like every player listed here, he cost less than $1.50 and has an obvious upside. They are all too great of a value to just overlook thanks to a recent change in circumstance.
