Week 9 Fantasy Basketball Trade Value Charts: Tyrese Maxey Undervalued After Breaking Out Of Slump

Will Desvallees Dec 15th 12:36 PM EST.

This week in fantasy basketball, many players such as Evan Fournier, Tyrese Maxey, and perhaps Devonte’ Graham are coming out of slumps, which has brought their trade values way down over the last few weeks. Elsewhere, Nikola Jokic’s trade value has surged to close to 41.0 points, making him by far the most expensive player in the Trade Value Charts, and certainly an interesting asset to sell-high in order to acquire multiple players.

Guards

PG Tyrese Maxey, Philadelphia 76ers (15.60)

Maxey’s value has drastically declined in the last few weeks. The sophomore point guard is coming out of a slump that he’s been in over the last two weeks. This comes after Maxey has produced 20+ points numerous times in the month of November, and since the beginning of the season. Maxey has played big minutes all season as a result of Ben Simmons’ nasty breakup with the 76ers organization. His trade value has dropped significantly over the last two weeks, making him very affordable now as one of the 76ers main guards. In his last three games, Maxey has scored double figures and converted at least 50% of his shots. This is what we saw from the second-year guard in mid-to-late November. This week, he is very affordable at 15.60, placing him below multiple guards who will not produce close to as much as Maxey once the season is over. Buy him low this week.

PG Devonte' Graham, New Orleans Pelicans (13.23)

Graham is a player this season who hasn’t yet produced as much as was expected this season. Over the last 10 games, he’s had multiple games scoring below 10 points. Graham has had a harder time getting comfortable running the point in New Orleans than people had thought before the season started. He is scoring 13.2 PPG and converting only 36.8% of his shots taken from the field. Over the last 10 games, he's scored a maximum of 13 points twice and scored in single figures in six of those games. He's also only averaging 4.3 assists per game this season, which is very low for any starting point guard. The only statistic of Graham's that shines is his average of 1.2 steals per game. It would be unlikely that Graham produces less efficiently than he has this season. His performance has slumped particularly over the last 10 games, which is why I expect him to return to his level of efficiency (though not great) from earlier this season. Nonetheless, his value is so deflated that his 31 MPG makes him undervalued this week, despite his poor efficiency of late.

Wings

SF/PF Harrison Barnes, Sacramento Kings (17.22)

Barnes is criminally undervalued as a result of having been out of the Kings lineup due to injury. His value further decreased over the last week because he hasn’t played 30 minutes or shot the ball well in his first three games back. Big whoop. Harrison Barnes was producing better than he ever had to begin the season. He will return to 30-35 MPG at least, and therefore have ample opportunities throughout the rest of the season to put up the big numbers he did in October and November.

SF Evan Fournier, New York Knicks (13.55)

Evan Fournier’s trade value has decreased substantially over the last two to three weeks, along with the slumping Knicks who have lost seven of their last eight games. Fournier has shot badly throughout this time and contributed to the bad offense which has sponsored the Knicks. With Obi Toppin and RJ Barrett out on COVID-19 Health and Safety Protocols,  Fournier is one of the only available productive wings the Knicks have on their active roster. This is especially true because Tom Thibedeau has completely replaced Kemba Walker with Alec Burks, who usually plays as a wing. Fournier will have an above-average amount of opportunities to score over the next few weeks (unless he too tests positive for the virus) and is definitely undervalued despite his poor play over the last few weeks. His current trade value ranks him below Cedi Osman and Danilo Ganillari, making him a very undervalued and highly affordable wing to buy low in Week 9.

Bigs

PF/C Richaun Holmes, Sacramento Kings (19.05)

Richaun Holmes saw his trade value drop by -2.5 points this week, bringing him close to his season-low value of approximately 18.0. This comes after Holmes has missed the Kings' last three games due to an eye injury he sustained after being poked against the Orlando Magic on Dec. 8. He also had one terrible game on Dec. 4 where he only scored a single point. In the two games before that one, Holmes recorded a double-double on Dec. 4 and scored 27 points (12-12 FG) in the contest before that one. He's the best available big in the Kings rotation and is certainly more valuable than Al Horford (19.54) and Andre Drummond (20.43). Drummond hasn't played more than 21 minutes in any contest since Joel Embiid returned in late November. As a result, Holmes, who is currently DTD, is an undervalued big to buy low in Week 9.
