For the season Calhoun is hitting 239 with 9 home runs, 24 RBI, and 24 runs scored. Sure his average isn't exactly anything to write home about, but it has increased from .175 to a high of .239 within the past month.
Calhoun also has three multi-hit efforts in a row with 4 RBI during that span. He is playing well for the entire month of May and should be owned in more leagues until he cools off.
His career numbers also indicate that he is worthy of playing. For the past three seasons he has averaged 19 home runs, 80 runs, and 68 RBI. This season he is on pace for 37 home runs, which he may or may not achieve, but at least you have an idea where his floor might be.
If Hunter Pence has already been taken and you are still looking for some help to strengthen your outfield then Calhoun is your man.
