Deep League Pitcher Help, Under 15% OWN
Today we are going to talk about Max Fried, a pitcher on the Atlanta Braves who has been very impressive during his 5 appearances so far this season. He is currently slated to pitch on Thursday, but his future in the rotation on the Braves is completely unknown.
So far this season Fried has pitched 17.2 innings with a 2.55 ERA and 1.3 WHIP to go along with an amazing 12.2 K/9. Fried started off as a reliever and has been extending his PC to a season high 101 as of June 30th against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Granted Fried has only pitched in 17.2 innings and doesn't qualify for starter comparisons yet, but only 3 starting pitchers have a K/9 above 12. The league's best K/9 from a starting pitcher belongs to Max Scherzer at 13.
I realize Fried only has a handful of innings, but this stat alone should probably make you want to take a chance on Fried.
His last outing against the Cardinals he managed double digit strikeouts for the first time and made it 6.2 innings to notch his first quality start. If Fried manages to impress again this Thursday against the Brewers then he will surely become a major waiver wire star by next week.
