Do Not Drop Chase Anderson
I've been watching the ownership of Chase Anderson plummet as the season has gone on. As of today, his ownership is hovering at around 64%.
We can all understand why owners have felt it was time to unload Chase for better options, but keep in mind that Anderson was a part of a lot of winning fantasy teams last season. Few pitchers were better down the stretch than him.
So far in 2018 Chase has only managed a 4.50 ERA and 1.21 WHIP to go along with a 7.1 K/9, which is well below his pace for 2017 with a 2.89 ERA, 8.5 K/9 and 1.11 WHIP.
Chase is one of those guys that can turn things around in the second half of the year and you'd feel horrible about dropping him or trading him away. Don't give up hope quite yet.
Take a look at Chase's career numbers.
The odds are in your favor. His WHIP has not regressed to pre 2017 numbers and his ERA is the worst it's been in his entire career if the season ended today. The lower K/9 is reason for concern obviously as it's close to his career lows.
Still, we recommend either holding onto Chase or even trading for him if you have a team owner who is fed up with his production. Dropping Anderson should be a last resort kinda thing if you absolutely need the roster room and believe strongly in a free agent.
