Why is Franmil Reyes such a popular waiver addition?

Brant Tedeschi May 17th 6:37 PM EDT.

The casual fan probably has never heard of Franmil Reyes, but fantasy die-hards who have been paying attention to Triple-A know all about him.

Reyes got the call up simply because the Padres simply can't ignore the production he has provided in Triple-A. He had 14 home runs, and eight of those home runs came in just five games. With an injury riddled lineup and poor run production, why not take a chance and see what he's got?

He has played just two games so far and has yet to make any significant impact, but owners need to be patient. Word is that Wil Myers won't be back until at least June so there is plenty more time for Reyes to get settled in.

Reyes is owned in 24% of leagues so far and is perfect for deeper leagues, but chances are he is already owned in those deeper leagues.
