Ryu tops today's list of waiver wire trends
Hyun-jin Ryu tops todays list of waiver wire trends with an increase of almost 12%. The reason is simple, he was lights out in his last start against the Oakland Athletics and he has two starts this week.
On April 10th against the A's, Ryu pitched 6 innings for 8 strikeouts, 1 walk, and no earned runs with 90 pitches. His season stats are currently a 2.79 ERA, 10/6 K/BB, 9.3 K/9, and a 1.24 WHIP. Keep in mind, he has only started two games in this young season.
Ryu has not been a very reliable starter and at this point last season his ERA was a 5.79 and a 1.61 WHIP. He may be a great option for a two start pitcher this week, but don't be surprised if one of those two starts is less than impressive.
Still, his projection for the week is a 3.057 ERA, 1.2 WHIP, and .7 quality starts with 9 strikeouts.
He is still available in roughly 50% of leagues out there, so if you want to take a chance on a two start pitcher, now would be the time to do so.
