White Sox right-hander James Shields took the no-decision on Friday after giving up six runs on 10 hits (one homer) and three walks with three strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings in a 7-6 defeat against the Royals.
Spin: It was Shields' (2-2, 5.79 ERA) first trip to Kauffman Stadium since leaving the Royals as a free agent following the 2014 season. Shields now has an 8.88 ERA over his last five starts, with eight home runs allowed. After showing some promise over his first four starts of 2017, the 35-year-old remains a stay-away for fantasy owners. Shields' next start is scheduled for July 26 against the Cubs.

The Cubs will have their next chance to vanquish their crosstown foes as the teams move to the South Side for a pair of games at Guaranteed Rate Field starting on Wednesday. Right-hander Jake Arrieta will begin the slate for the Cubs, who would seem to have the pitching advantage against a struggling James Shields.
