Tottenham boss Redknapp: Crouch must go to World Cup
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is adamant Peter Crouch must go to the World Cup.Redknapp left Crouch on the bench for their victory over Blackburn Rovers. But he argues: "Crouch has to go to the World Cup. He seems to score every time he plays for England, he leads the line well, holds the ball up and wins every header."He gives you something completely different when games are tight. You can play long balls to him, he will win headers and (help) other players to get around the second ball and open packed defences."I think both he and (Spurs team-mate) Jermain Defoe will go to the World Cup."
Redknapp backs Crouch for World Cup spot
Harry Redknapp believes Peter Crouch should be a part of Fabio Capello's World Cup squad despite the fact that the England striker isn't a regular starter at Tottenham Hotspur.
Blackburn boss Allardyce huge fan of Tottenham striker Crouch
Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce makes no secret of his admiration for Tottenham striker Peter Crouch.Crouch started on the bench for yesterday's victory over Blackburn.Allardyce said: “Crouchie is one of my favourites."I tried to sign him many times and always thought he was much better than people gave him credit for and he has improved as the years have gone on.”How many centre-forwards at that height are goalscorers and good centre-forwards, and his England record speaks for itself.”There are not many that can match what he does in the Premier League, and it was he who finished us off when we played just before Christmas.”We had two chances when I was at Bolton to sign him but didn’t come up with the money when we should have - we could have signed him from £2.2million from Aston Villa and that would have been the bargain snatch of the century.”
