Kitson handed chance to rescue Stoke career
Dave Kitson will get the chance tonight to rescue his Stoke City career. The former ÂŁ5.5m record signing is expected to get the nod to start against Burnley at Turf Moor tonight and show that he really can cut it at the top.Potters boss Tony Pulis said: âI had a chat with Dave a few weeks ago and since then he has really got his head down.âNobody came in for him in January, but he is still part of my plans. We have had so many games over the last few weeks that some of the players are mentally shattered.âIt is a massive game for them and us and Dave is very much in my thoughts.â
Pulis: Kitson can have Stoke future
Stoke City boss Tony Pulis has told Dave Kitson he has a future at the Brit.Pulis is adamant that the ÂŁ5.5million signing from Reading is still an important member of the squad after his goal in this week's FA Cup win over Manchester City."I'm just pleased for Dave because he's had a very up and down career here," Pulis told the Stoke Sentinel."I had a chat with him a couple of weeks ago after nobody came in for him on deadline day."I just told him to get his head down and work hard, because he was still in my thoughts."
Shawcross: Stoke City deserve better press
Ryan Shawcross says Stoke City deserve more credit after their FA Cup win over Manchester City.Shawcross benefited from the Potters' most infamous tactic as he decisively put his side ahead in last night's FA Cup fifth-round replay win over Manchester City by heading home a Rory Delap throw-in.But Tony Pulis' men also scored well-worked goals through Dave Kitson and Tuncay in their stunning 3-1 extra-time success over the expensively-assembled visitors at the Britannia Stadium.Shawcross now hopes such play is not overlooked when people come to assess the merits of the Stoke side. The defender said: "They took their goals well and it shows the calibre of players we have got."Mine was a bit more direct but you have to go for them."I think we showed what a good football team we are. We get tagged for kicking and heading it but we have got some very talented footballers, big international players."I think we played some good football."Shawcross felt his goal made up for the one he had harshly ruled out in the Barclays Premier League draw against the same opponents last week."It is a fantastic result," he said. "The fans got behind us and it is a big win after the disappointment of the last game against them."It is a fantastic win and hopefully we can go to Chelsea and get a result."
