Phillies' relief pitcher Scott Eyre filed for free agency on Thursday, according to the Twitter page of beat writer Todd Zolecki.

Our View: Eyre recently had surgery to remove floating bodies from his left elbow, but it was a minor procedure and he is expected to be ready to pitch before long. He is contemplating retirement, but he would like to return to the Phils for another season.
