Our View: Schmidt currently has no plans to pitch next year, even though he filed for free agency on Wednesday, and it's not likely that his services would garner many interested parties. The once dominant starter went just 2-2 with a 5.61 ERA in four starts last season, and was severely limited once again by his practically bionic shoulder that has seen multiple surgeries.
