Our View: This is what happens when literally every single free agent you target besides one spurns you. Tatis made $1.7 million in 2009, and wants a similar payday for 2010. While he played six positions and hit .282 last season, he hit into 13 double plays in just 340 at-bats while getting on base at a clip of only .339. Those numbers wouldn't usually be considered bad for a fill-in player, but recent rumors have the Amazins making Tatis their semi-regular first baseman in 2010. An aging, powerless journeyman getting a gig as a large market team's pseudo starting first baseman? Now that truly would be amazing.
