Tracy would have made $7 million if the team would have picked up the option, but instead they decided to pay a $1 million buyout.

Our View: Not a big shocker here, as Tracy played in only 98 games last year and hit a miserable .237. He is coming off one of the worst years of his career, but someone could get a bargain if he can stay healthy for a full season.

Altogether, he batted just .237 with eight homers and 39 RBIs over 98 games. It's hard to imagine that Tracy's days of being a productive player are finished at 29, but he may have a hard time earning a starting opportunity following three straight injury-shortened seasons. http://www.fantasysp.com/player/mlb/Chad_Tracy/622061 622061 Thu, 05 Nov 2009 13:20:13 EDT mlb.com http://www.fantasysp.com/player/mlb/Chad_Tracy/622061 Tracy likely played his final game as a Diamondback on Sunday as he's got a $7 million club option for Tracy likely played his final game as a Diamondback on Sunday as he's got a $7 million club option for 2010 that will almost certainly be declined, the Arizona Republic reports. This may have been Tracy's final home game in an Arizona uniform, as his $7 million option for 2010 is expected to be bought out. http://www.fantasysp.com/player/mlb/Chad_Tracy/552668 552668 Mon, 28 Sep 2009 1:44:01 EDT kffl.com http://www.fantasysp.com/player/mlb/Chad_Tracy/552668 Tracy homers in second straight Chad Tracy went 3-for-4 with a home run in the Diamondbacks 7-4 win over the Padres on Sunday.

Our View: Tracy didn't have a hit in the entire month of September until Saturday night when he launched a pinch-hit grand slam. The he comes back the next day, collects three hits and rips another homer. Looks like the pending free agent is getting energized. Too little too late though, seeing as how we're at the tail end of the season's final month.

Diamondbacks | Tracy's grand slam helps beat San Diego The Arizona Republic's Bob McManaman reports Arizona Diamondbacks IF Chad Tracy had a pinch-hit grand slam Saturday, Sept. 26, in an 8-5 win over the San Diego Padres. Tracy, who has been seldom used in the latter part of the season, will start at first base Sunday, Sept. 27. http://www.fantasysp.com/player/mlb/Chad_Tracy/550206 550206 Sun, 27 Sep 2009 3:52:02 EDT kffl.com http://www.fantasysp.com/player/mlb/Chad_Tracy/550206 Tracy hadn't even brought a runner across home plate in 18 games dating back to Aug. 21, so the grand Tracy hadn't even brought a runner across home plate in 18 games dating back to Aug. 21, so the grand slam likely comes with owners unprepared. There isn't a justifiable reason to leave the corner infielder in lineups since he's not playing every day, but perhaps this serves as a wakeup call that Tracy still owns the sort of pop that led to consecutive 20-homer campaigns from 2005-06. http://www.fantasysp.com/player/mlb/Chad_Tracy/550190 550190 Sun, 27 Sep 2009 2:28:15 EDT mlb.com http://www.fantasysp.com/player/mlb/Chad_Tracy/550190 Tracy rips salami in a pinch Chad Tracy clubbed a pinch-hit grand slam in the seventh inning Saturday to give the Diamondbacks an 8-5 win over the Padres.

Our View: Tracy's season has been a disappointment, as he's struggled with injuries and creating productive at-bats. Saturday's grand slam was a big hit, but it's also his only hit in the month of September. He looks to be a free agent at the end of the season, because Arizona would be foolish to pick up his $7 million option.

Our View: No surprise here, as Tracy has been a disappointment the past three seasons; since reaching 20 home runs for two-straight years from 2005-06, he's struggled to get on base, hasn't even reached double-digit home runs and, unless he plays each of Arizona's final eight games (which he won't), he'll have failed to reach 100 games played for the third-straight season. He's still young enough at 29 and is sure to be picked up by someone, though not for anywhere near that $7 million.
