Canucks general manager Mike Gillis said there's a "distinct possibility" Luongo stays with the team next season, the Vancouver Province reports.

Spin: The Canucks plan to re-sign restricted free agent Cory Schneider this offseason. If both goaltenders stick around we could be looking at a straight timeshare. Odds are Gillis still shops Luongo around this summer. Assuming Gillis can find a taker, Luongo will be the No. 1 netminder for a new team and Schneider will be the Canucks' top goalie.

Vancouver GM Mike Gillis said that having Roberto Luongo in a Canucks uniform next season is a distinct possibility.

Impacts: Gillis stated this earlier in the week on Hockey Night in Canada radio. It had been assumed that the Canucks would do everything in their power to move Luongo off the roster and anoint Cory Schneider as the number one netminder. "Having both goalies back in Vancouver next year is definitely a possibility and probably the leading possibility," Mike Liut, Schnieder’s agent, told the Vancouver Province. "Cory will approach the season as he did this year — you focus on what you can control." Stay tuned as this saga is far from over.
