Cardinals | Schumaker hopes to improve in offseason
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Derrick Goold reports St. Louis Cardinals 2B Skip Schumaker plans to spend the offseason working on his defense. Schumaker is penciled in to start at second base again in 2010. 'More flexibility,' said Schumaker. 'I thought about stretching once last winter. This winter, it's more important. Quickness. Quickness is now a big part of my game. I never thought about quickness before. It was always about running the ball down, and I could do that if I got a bad jump.'
