If he were to sign with the A's, he'd provide a right-handed bat at the corner infield spots. The former All-Star batted .264 with eight homers and 28 RBIs in 163 at-bats for the Dodgers in 2008. If Garciaparra does not sign with the A's, the club might step up its pursuit of shortstop Orlando Cabrera and reliever Dennys Reyes.
