Indians | More on LaPorta
Updating a previous report, Paul Hoynes, of The Cleveland Plain Dealer, reports Cleveland Indians OF Matt LaPorta (hip, toe) could miss the start of the 2010 regular season after undergoing surgery on his hip and toe Tuesday, Oct. 13. 'There's a real possibility that Matt could be behind at the start of Spring Training. Potentially, he could miss some time at the start of the regular season, but it shouldn't be a great deal of time, if he misses any at all,' head athletic trainer Lonnie Soloff said. LaPorta's hip surgery was a smoothing of a 'bony impingement' in the hip joint. His toe surgery was the more serious of the two operations, and is being likened to 'turf toe.'
