Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that the Cardinals would love to retain Matt Holliday, but they are also ready for the possibility that he will go somewhere else.
Our View: Sherman also reports that the team doesn't expect to get anything done with Holliday before Christmas. No real contenders for Holliday's services have emerged yet, but the usual suspects, the Yankees, Red Sox and Mets, have all been mentioned as possibilities.
