Kenley Jansen | Fantasy Outlook

Kenley Jansen remains sidelined on the injured list while Kyle Finnegan handles closing duties for the Tigers.

Jansen remains on the 15-day injured list due to pelvic inflammation, an injury that has kept him sidelined since late May. While he is out, the fifth-place Tigers (27-39) have turned to Kyle Finnegan to anchor the ninth inning. Jansen's absence has cleared the way for Finnegan to grab hold of the closer role, leaving the veteran's fantasy managers waiting for a clear rehab timeline.

Before the injury, Jansen was struggling with a 5.29 ERA and 1.32 WHIP across 18 appearances, which is a far cry from his strong 2.85 ERA in 2025. Our models still project a decent rest-of-season bounce-back to a 3.66 ERA and 1.17 WHIP with 22 saves, suggesting his early-season struggles and inflated walk-off rate may just be a temporary blip. However, at age 38, physical decline and health risks are very real concerns.

With Jansen currently on the shelf, our weekly models project him for zero fantasy points as the Tigers host the Twins and travel to Cleveland. There is no reason to activate him, and he should remain firmly on fantasy benches or in an IL slot until he resumes throwing. For the coming week, the verdict is a clear Sit.
