Upton has gone 6-for-20 with a home run, four RBI, a 7:4 BB:K and a pair of stolen bases over his last six games.
Spin: According to the D-Backs' official site, Upton is seeing the ball better at the plate, which has significantly changed his plate discipline from where it's been throughout the first six-plus weeks of the season. "It's a combination of seeing the ball better and pitchers just not throwing strikes," Upton said. "I think early on I was chasing out of my zone a little bit. I have done a better job of making sure the pitches are in the zone. I also haven't been seeing many pitches over the plate." The surge over the past week could be foreshadowing a breakout for the struggling outfielder, as Upton's current .705 OPS is nearly 200 points below where he finished in 2011.

After getting off to another slow start this season, Diamondbacks outfielder Justin Upton is starting to show signs of life at the plate. Upton his batting .294 (5 for 17) over his last five games to go along with one home run, four RBI and five runs scored. He has also posted a .478 on-base percentage over that stretch and told MLB.com that he starting to see the ball better. "I'm seeing the ball pretty decent the last couple games," Upton said. "It's still a work in progress, but the season's a process. Sometimes you start hot, sometimes you start cold, but you stick to your routine and should be fine."
Analysis: Upton also got off to a slow start last season, but was able to turn things around and wound up putting up the best numbers of his career. While there is no guarantee he will be able to do that again this season, his recent hot stretch is certainly a step in the right direction. Despite his slow start at the plate, Fantasy owners should continue to roll with Upton as a high-end option in all formats moving forward.
