Red Sox SP Josh Beckett pitched five innings on Friday night, allowing six runs off 10 hits against the Rangers. The right-hander gave up two over his first three innings of work but benefited from a seven-run fourth inning by the Red Sox. He would need it as Beckett preceded to allow two runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth. Surprisingly he left in line for the win but the bullpen could not hold on.
