Thurston outrighted to Triple-A
The St. Louis Post Dispatch reports that the Cardinals have outrighted infielder Joe Thurston and reliever Matt Scherer to the Triple-A Memphis roster.
Our View: The Birds just wanted to clear space on the 40-man roster and had to do a little housecleaning. Thurston was a career minor leaguer who finally got a shot to get it done at the big league level last season, but he managed to hit just .225 in 267 at-bats with one homer and 25 RBI. Don't expect him to crack the roster again next year.
