Giants will not go after Dye, Martinez
Giants' GM Brian Sabean squashed rumors that the team is trying to acquire either Jermaine Dye or Victor Martinez, according to the San Jose Mercury News. Sabean told the paper that 'it would take a Madison Bumgarner-plus type of blockbuster deal,' and 'that's not going to happen because we're not going to trade Bumgarner.'
Our View: The Giants could use a bat if they want to stay in the race, but it looks like they are not willing to give up any of their young pitching, especially Bumgarner. If the Giants are still in the race as the deadline approaches, they may be more inclined to make a deal, but don't expect Bumgarner to be moved for anyone.
