Ben Collins, of The Boston Globe, reports Boston Red Sox SS Jed Lowrie (wrist) will serve as the designated hitter with Triple-A Pawtucket Friday, July 3. Manager Terry Francona said Lowrie could also play shortstop with Pawtucket this weekend.
