Updating previous reports, ESPN.com's Jayson Stark reports sources familiar with negotiations said the Boston Red Sox's deadline for the offer to C Jason Varitek doesn't exist. The source referred to the 8:30 a.m. deadline - which has been characterized of late as being 8:30 a.m. Pacific Standard Time - as being 'kind of a media creation.'
