Mariners.MLB.com's Jim Street reports Detroit Tigers SP Jarrod Washburn said he planned to retire following the 2009 season, but the Seattle Mariners' clubhouse chemistry and his improved performance shelved those ideas. Washburn said the Mariners are toward the top of his wish list as he heads to free agency.
