Hardy making contact in May

Orioles shortstop J.J. Hardy went 0 for 4 on Sunday against the Nationals, going hitless for just the second time in nine games. Hardy is batting .325 (13 for 40) with one homer, one triple, three doubles and eight RBI in his last nine games, but he's done pretty well throughout May. After batting .184 in April, Hardy is batting .322 with a .352 OBP, .632 slugging percentage, .984 OPS, six homers and 14 RBI in 19 May games.

Analysis: It was only a matter of time before Hardy got going offensively. His April numbers were pretty weak and it's all back to normal for the veteran slugger in May. Hardy has certainly been a streaky hitter in his career, so don't be surprised if he has a few hot and cold streaks in 2012. But his power potential for a shortstop is why he remains a viable Fantasy starter in all formats.
