Angels | More on Matthews
Updating previous reports, the Los Angeles Times' Mike DiGiovanna reports Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Gary Matthews Jr. said he wants to be traded in the offseason to a team that will allow him to play every day. The team will likely have to absorb most of the $23 million remaining on his contract. He requested a trade last March and again around the All-Star break and has had numerous discussions with general manager Tony Reagins, who appears willing to accommodate Matthews' request. The Angels have two outfield spots open due to free agency, but Matthews still wants out.
