Jason Giambi went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer, his 11th, in Wednesday’s win over the Tigers. Giambi entered the game mired in a 1-for-18 slump, so maybe taking one deep will help put the veteran first baseman back on track. If not, his playing time might soon be in jeopardy, what with his paltry .199 average and all.
Analysis: There’s no reason Braden shouldn’t be owned in just about every league by now, considering he’s held opponents to three earned runs or fewer for the last eight outings, dating back to May 16. For all intents and purposes, he’s Oakand’s ace. For fantasy owners, he’s become a viable starter capable of double-digit wins and an ERA around 4.00. Just keep in mind he takes on Josh Beckett and the Red Sox next time out.
