Joe Strauss, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports the St. Louis Cardinals are interested in trading for Washington Nationals 1B Adam Dunn and OF Josh Willingham.
STREAKING 1. Dayan Viciedo, LF: The hottest hitter in the lineup was benched on Friday due to Adam Dunn playing left field during interleague play. Viciedo has finally started to use the entire field in his hitting approach. He was 12 for 27 last week with four home runs and 10 RBIs. Hitting coach Jeff Manto has worked with him on keeping his head on the ball and not pulling off too early. One scout told me last week that Viciedo could be the next big-time home run champion when gets it all figured out.
Slugger making an impact, having fun after lost 2011 season
Adam Dunn's recent surge is one of this baseball season's most impressive transformations.
Dunn hit his second home run in as many days Sunday, finishing 1-for-4 with a walk and two strikouts as the White Sox beat the Cubs to complete the three-game sweep.
Spin: With his 14th bomb of the season, Dunn is tied for second in home runs behind only the Rangers' Josh Hamilton, this despite also being second in strikeout percentage at 33.9 percent. While his all-or-nothing attitude at the plate is more balanced in his second season with the White Sox, be wary of a slump from the 32-year-old.
