Tony Stewart and other drivers backed NASCAR's decision to use double-file restarts throughout each race for the remainder of the season, starting this weekend at Pocono, according to an official press release.
Our View: Lead-lap cars will now restart side by side during each restart in the same fashion they do at the All-Star race. The leader will still control the restart, but drivers will no longer have to deal with the lap-down cars. The "free pass" will also be available throughout the entire race rather than being eliminated in the final 10 laps. This rule will make for some exciting late race restarts and should improve the quality of racing. Fans have been asking for this for some time now, and NASCAR finally delivered.
