Stepmother sues Jeremy Mayfield for defamation
Lisa Mayfield, stepmother of Jeremy Mayfield, has filed a defamation lawsuit against the suspended NASCAR driver/owner for comments he made after she testified in an affidavit that she had seen Jeremy use methamphetamines.

Lisa Mayfield is seeking compensatory damages in excess of $10,000, punitive damages in excess of $10,000 and any other "relief as the court may deem just and proper."

"Jeremy cooked some of his own methamphetamine in his shop by the house until the stores took pseudoephedrine off the shelves. In addition to making methamphetamine for his own use, I am aware that Jeremy has bought methamphetamine from others." She also testified that she had seen Mayfield using methamphetamine roughly 30 times throughout the years, including at least once before a race. Mayfield continues to deny that he has ever used methamphetamines.

Our View: Both sides continue to argue over a number of issues, including which labs should be used to test samples. Mayfield's attorneys report that some samples have come back negative while NASCAR counters by saying those labs are unreliable. Meanwhile, Mayfield's attorneys claim that NASCAR uses unreliabel sites as well to obtain their positive tests. This situation is going to get a little messier before it is resolved.
