The Boston Globe reports that Trent Whitfield has cleared waivers and will report to Providence of the AHL.

Our View: The Bruins waived Whitfield on Friday, but no other team felt he was worth taking a chance on. He should see regular playing time in the AHL and could be recalled at some point if the Bruins need depth due to injury.
