The Los Angeles Kings have placed forward Ryan Smyth on injured reserve, according to LAKingsInsider.com. Smyth is expected to miss close to a month with an upper-body injury.
Our View: No surprise here, as the team needed a roster spot to make some call-ups. Smyth had 23 points in the first 22 games this season, so he will be sorely missed while he is out.

Ryan Smyth is out for at least one month with an upper body injury. Kings coach Terry Murray would not specify what kind of injury Smyth has. Smyth was off to a great start to the season with nine goals and 23 points in 22 games. With him gone, Alexander Frolov will play on the Kings' top line.
