Manny Legace allowed three first period goals, but rebounded to help the Canes to a 6-5 shootout victory over the Leafs on Thursday. Legace stopped 27 of the 32 shots he faced in the game.
Our View: Manny wasn't great tonight, but his team gave him enough offensive support to get him a win. He will likely see plenty of starts going forward with Cam Ward out, but he will need to better if the Canes are going to turn around their season.

Slam! Sports is reporting that Canes' goalie Cam Ward has been placed on the long-term injury list by the team. Ward has already missed two weeks with a laceration on his leg.
Our View: Things couldn't be much worse for the Canes right now, as they have placed their top goaltender and top forward on the injured list in the last few hours. Ward is expected to miss significant time, so fantasy owners shouldn't plan on having his services available for the near future.

Status: Out. Indefinitely
Cam Ward (leg) was released from the hospital Monday morning. Ward had been in Riverside Methodist Hospital since his leg was accidentally slashed by Coluimbus' Rick Nash on Saturday. He's expected to miss about a month with a lacerated thigh.
