Gholston's holdout lasted one day and two practices.Impacts: The New York Jets signed the No. 6 overall pick to a multiyear deal Friday, in time for the defensive end-linebacker to be on the field with his teammates for the start of practice on the second day of training camp. The hulking Gholston, who set an Ohio State record with 14 sacks last season, is expected to immediately improve the Jets' pass rush.

Jets declared LB Vernon Gholston, LB Kenwin Cummings, G Matt Slauson, DE Ropati Pitoitua, third QB Kevin O'Connell, QB Erik Ainge, CB/KR Justin Miller and LB Ryan Fowler inactive for Sunday's game against the Patriots. Gholston is struggling with a hamstring injury, but doesn't have a big role anyway. Safety Jim Leonhard is surprisingly active.
