News: In a surprising move, the Chiefs announced Tuesday that offensive coordinator Chan Gailey would stay on the Chiefs' staff despite Todd Haley, the former offensive coordinator of the Cardinals, being named the new head coach earlier this month. Gailey's position wasn't announced, but it is believed that he will remain the club's offensive coordinator. Haley said in his introductory news conference that he would surround himself with good coaches and let them handle their fair share of the workload, and Gailey was one of those coaches. Under Gailey's tutelage last season, the Chiefs offense had 32 touchdowns, with 23 of them coming through the air. And of those 23, TE Tony Gonzalez had 10, the most he'd had since 10 in 2003. He also had 1,058 yards on 96 catches, the second time in as many seasons he had over 90 catches and 1,000 yards. [...]

Randy Covitz, of The Kansas City Star, reports Kansas City Chiefs TE Tony Gonzalez said he would \"have no problems staying with the Chiefs,\" depending on what moves the team makes in the offseason. Gonzalez said during an interview with NBC at the Pro Bowl that he spoke with new general manager Scott Pioli to dispel some reports concerning his future. \"I spoke to Pioli last week because there were some trade rumors out there saying I wanted to have a trade, and that wasn�'t the case,\" Gonzalez said. \"There is no doubt in my mind that Scott Pioli is going to come in there and do an amazing job and so is Todd Haley, the new head coach. ... Just looking at the Super Bowl this year, it would be so great to get that opportunity to play for that. I�'m not saying the Chiefs can�'t do that. They will eventually turn that corner; it�'s how soon can they do that. Once free agency comes, and they�'re wheeling and dealing, and they�'re making trades, and it looks good, then I have no problem staying with the Chiefs.\"

Since then, the club hired Todd Haley as their head coach, and Gonzalez said he spoke with GM Scott Pioli about his future with the club. "There is no doubt in my mind that Scott Pioli is going to come in there and do an amazing job and so is Todd Haley, the new head coach," Gonzalez said. "But I'm going into year 13. I want to play maybe two more years, and that's maybe. I've been in three playoff games and won none. Just looking at the Super Bowl this year, it would be so great to get that opportunity to play for that. I'm not saying the Chiefs can’t do that. I haven\'t even talked to [general manager Scott Pioli] yet.
