The Associated Press reports New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (foot) said he is ready for the team's season opener, but added that the decision remains up to the coaching staff. "If it's up to me, there's no question," Brady said. "I've been getting progressively better over the past couple of weeks. I'm excited. I'm excited to start the year." Brady added he felt he could have played in the preseason. "I felt like I could play all of them and I practiced the entire preseason, pretty much. The decision was made that, OK, Tom, you're not going to play, and I was fine with it." Brady stretched and did agility drills with teammates during the media-access portion of practice Monday, Sept. 1.

Tom Brady completed 28-of-41 passes for 310 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions in Sunday's win over the Jets. Brady also got the call on two goal-line sneaks, but couldn't convert either. He made a point of giving Randy Moss a chance to show up Darrelle Revis, but it wasn't happening. All of Brady's success came over the middle to Wes Welker, who had a career day. Brady has now thrown for more than 300 yards in five straight games heading into next week's showdown with the Saints.
