News: The New York Times reports Jets RB Thomas Jones spoke to the media Friday for the first time since the day after last season ended. Jones, however, did not address his contract situation, which has been a topic in regards to him all offseason. "I'm not discussing any contract situations," Jones said. "Period." Jones did take exception to the "disgruntled" label that now seems attached to his name. Jones said he spent the offseason working out with his trainer and 15 to 20 other players in Miami. He said he was in "great shape" and "fast" and "strong" and "mentally ready to go." Coach Rex Ryan joked during his Friday news conference that Jones has already lobbied for additional carries this season. That seems unlikely, even though Jones is the AFC's reigning rushing leader, mainly because Leon Washington figures to have an expanded role, and the Jets traded up to select Shonn Greene in this third round of the draft. New York Jets RB Thomas Jones, who is with the team for training camp, is refusing to discuss his contract situation. "I'm not discussing any contract situations. Period. I'm here at training camp right now. The offseason is done. It's the season, so I'm focused on that. I worked out. I have my own trainer down in Florida. I had a great offseason. I worked as hard as I could. I feel like I'm in great shape. I'm strong, fast and mentally ready to go. I'm just excited to be here at this point right now," Jones said.
