When media types caught up with Dallas offensive coordinator
When media types caught up with Dallas offensive coordinator Jason Garrett on Sunday at workouts for college football's Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama, he was a man of few words when asked to comment on wide receiver Terrell Owens, the Dallas Morning News reports. "I certainly have a lot of respect for him as a player," Garrett said. "And we'll just leave it at that."Both Garrett and Owens, whose relationship was said to have been strained by several publicized indifferences this past season, were thought to have been out in Dallas. Owens was the subject of trade rumors, while Garrett was reportedly in St. Louis over the weekend and rumored to be the leading candidate for the Rams' head coaching position. However, Owens' agent, Drew Rosenhaus, has recently put trade rumors to rest, and the Rams ditched the idea of hiring Garrett in favor of going with Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo.
ESPN.com reports Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones would do everything
ESPN.com reports Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones would do everything short of firing head coach Wade Phillips - even release WR Terrell Owens - to retain offensive coordinator Jason Garrett, according to sources. However, those sources say Garrett would never put Jones in the position of deciding whether to fire Phillips and release Owens to keep him in the organization. Garrett\'s departure would probably increase the potential of Owens returning to the team in 2009.
A day after ESPN reported that the Cowboys are going to explore
News: A day after ESPN reported that the Cowboys are going to explore the idea of releasing WR Terrell Owens, the player's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, gave a very good reason why it won't happen: Money. Rosenhaus told WQAM-AM in Miami that Owens just agreed to a new contract and would cost the franchise too much money if they released him. "It's not going to happen," Rosenhaus said. "Terrell's never had off-the-field problems, and he's been one of the greatest players ever. And they just gave him a monster contract. They just gave him a huge extension before the season. He's not going anywhere." [...]

"Terrell's never had off-the-field problems, and he's been one of the greatest players ever," Rosenhaus claimed. "And they just gave him a monster contract. I mean, they just gave him a huge extension before the season. He's not going anywhere."1. Rosenhaus really has no say in the matter unless the Cowboys want to restructure Owens' contract. 2. Owens has had off-the-field issues more than once in his career. 3. If he carries a monster contract, there would seem to be more incentive to get rid of him.

According to Fanball sources, the Cowboys and Dolphins may be discussing a trade for wide receiver Terrell Owens. The Cowboys have traditionally been a haven for former problem players, but Owens' divisive nature has them looking to part ways with the high-maintenance wideout. Should a deal happen, TO would join Ted Ginn in Miami to form a better-than-average receiving duo. In Dallas, Roy Williams, who made a minimal impact after joining the Cowboys last year, would be asked to step into the No. 1 receiver role.
