Plax to try to get pardon?
According to ProFootballTalk.com, there are rumors floating around that the lawyers for receiver Plaxico Burress could be seeking a Presidential pardon for the receiver. Burress was sentenced to 2 years in jail after pleading guilty to a felony weapons charge.
Our View: Sounds pretty crazy, right? It's actually not as far-fetched as you might think. There is a strong belief that Burress was done in by his celebrity, and many people in the sports community and outside of it feel that he got a raw deal. It might be a long-shot, but don't be shocked if more news comes out regarding this situation.

Will Spend Two Years In Prison

Justice Michael H. Melkonian of State Supreme Court accepted the guilty plea. Under the plea agreement, along with the two-year prison sentence, Burress, 32, is to be sentenced on Sept. 22 to two years of post-release supervision. With good behavior, he will be eligible for release after slightly more than 20 months. If the case were to go to trial and Burress were convicted of all charges - two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and one count of second-degree reckless endangerment - he could face 3 1/2 to 15 years in prison. The plea agreement still needs the approval of a State Supreme Court justice. (New York Times)
FF Today's Take: Whether he serves 20 or 24 months, Burress' days of a being an elite fantasy WR are likely over, and that's assuming a team will attempt to sign him. Burress gets two years in jail
The New York Times Reports that trouble receiver Plaxico Burress pleaded guilty to a felony weapons charge and was sentenced to two years in prison.
Our View: The 32-year old Burress is likely done as an NFL player. He could still technically face more prison time on top of his current sentence if New York State doesn't accept his plea. There is no longer any reason to hang onto him in keeper leagues at this point and his reckless actions have effectively ended his playing days for good.
