According to NFL.com, Saints running back Pierre Thomas could be on his way out of New Orleans. Head coach Sean Payton said Thursday that the Saints are looking to add a big, physical back either through the draft or free agency to complement Reggie Bush's speed. The fact that Payton did not make any mention of finding that player on his current roster implies Thomas will not be the starting running back in 2009, as was originally thought.By no means does this mean Thomas will leave New Orleans, but the thought of seeking employment elsewhere will likely creep into his mind if the Saints decide to take a high-profile back in the draft or via free agency, either of which might bury him on the depth chart.
